How to Apply

All three of the Institute’s family medicine residency programs accept applications through ERAS. No paper applications will be accepted. We believe strongly in the integrity of the match process and for this reason, do not offer pre-match positions. If you have questions, please contact us.

Apply to the Harlem Residency in Family Medicine

The following materials are required in order to complete your application:

  1. ERAS application submitted through ERAS only
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Three letters of recommendation from medical school faculty (preferably from a primary care physician) or from US clinical experience
  4. Personal statement
  5. MSPE or Dean’s letter
  6. USMLE transcript
  7. Official medical school transcript and diploma.
  8. Photograph (optional)

The Residency Program Director and a Resident Selection Committee composed of faculty and current residents review all applications. Of particular interest to our program are demonstration of an understanding of the principles of family practice and commitment to working with urban underserved communities. Please note that your application must be screened by residents and faculty before an interview invitation may be extended.

 

Apply to the Mid-Hudson Family Practice Residency Program

The Mid-Hudson program accepts applications for 10 first year positions. Once we have reviewed all applications, we will contact a select number of applicants who meet our criteria to schedule an interview. Our interview season is from mid-October through January. We participate exclusively in the AOA and NRMP matches. The following materials are required in order to complete your application:

  1. ERAS application submitted through ERAS
  2. Medical school transcript
  3. Dean’s letter
  4. Three letters of recommendation from medical school faculty (preferably from a primary care physician) or from US clinical experience
  5. Personal statement
  6. Photograph (optional)
  7. USMLE Step I and Step II scores OR COMLEX Part I and Part II scores including Clinical Skills Assessment

 

Apply to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Program (Downtown Residency in Urban Family Medicine)

We review applications from September 15th through December 15th. Your personal statement about your interest in family medicine, especially in urban settings, and your letters of reference (from someone who knows your work well and who can highlight your special qualities), are very valuable.

Please note: Applications from international medical school graduates (IMGs) must also be submitted through ERAS.
