Dr. Elizabeth O’Callahan was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Georgetown University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology, then left the country to gain a more nuanced perspective of the world. Dr. O’Callahan spent a year living and working in Khon Kaen, Thailand before returning home to work in NYC public schools with the Creative Arts Team. Through this work, she learned about co-intentional education, an approach that places the diverse experiences, perspectives, and skills of the participants at the center of a collaborative process toward a common goal. Dr. O’Callahan plans to apply this principle to her practice of medicine, and is especially excited to work with communities and individuals that struggle to make their voices heard–both in and out of the doctor’s office. She feels privileged to be able to do this work so close to home.
