Dr. Anup Bhandiwad is beyond excited to have the opportunity to train in Manhattan over the next few years. Born in Mysore, India, Dr. Bhandiwad spent most of his childhood in Bay City, Michigan before obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Having developed a strong interest in integrative medicine during undergrad, he attended Georgetown University and completed a Masters in Physiology – Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). He spent the next year as a researcher in Seattle, WA conducting trials in Vitamin D administration and sauna-based detoxification before moving back to Michigan for medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. During medical school, he acquired an interest in underserved primary care and was heavily involved with the Robert R. Frank Student-Run Free Clinic. Mount Sinai Downtown stood out from the beginning due to his interests in urban, underserved medicine, preventative medicine and integrative medicine. During his free time, Dr. Bhandiwad enjoys trying different foods, traveling, spending time with his wife and family and is an avid Detroit and Michigan sports fan (Go Blue!).
