Dr. Ana Garcia was born in Nicaragua and grew up in Miami, Florida. She received a bachelor’s in Biomedical Sciences and Microbiology from Pennsylvania State University and University of South Florida. Prior to starting medical school, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute while simultaneously earning a master’s in Biology Medical Sciences and a master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies in Biological and Physical Sciences. During this time, she was published for her work in genetic testing and molecular biomarkers and microbiology genomics. Dr. Garcia always dreamed of training in a big city, and is excited to stay in the Big Apple at Mount Sinai and Walton Family Health Center. She is grateful to be able to serve such diverse communities in New York City and the Bronx. Her interests include health disparities and better understanding the affects of social determinants in health. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling as well as playing basketball and soccer.
