Fidel Figueroa selected to sit on Peer Work Certification Review Board

Congratulations to our Fidel F., Community Wellness Advocate and peer educator at Urban Horizons Family Health Center, who has been selected to sit on the New York State-wide Peer Work Certification Review Board. This is a NYS AIDS Institute-sponsored group that is responsible for reviewing all applications for people applying to become NYS-certified peer educators. Peer educators share lived experience with those they are serving, and use that experience to provide health education, support and other services to those in need.

Originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico, Fidel has worked in transitional housing, HIV testing, and with other fellow peer educators before coming to Urban Horizons. He is very excited to bring new ideas and his team-oriented mindset to the Review Board. Congrats, Fidel!
