SUNY Downstate College of Medicine

Cleo McGovern was born and raised in Washington, D.C. where she was first exposed to community health centers through internships in high school. She completed her undergraduate education at Barnard College where she studied Urban Studies and Sociology with a focus on public health policy. Further work experiences in family health centers and internships in various public health pursuits reaffirmed her commitment to family medicine and the belief in healthcare as a human right. She attended SUNY Downstate for medical school where she served as co-director of the Brooklyn Free Clinic. She is so excited to begin a career in medicine at the Institute for Family Health because she can continue to care for all patients regardless of their ability to pay. In her free time, Cleo loves to explore beautiful New York City.
