Tamra Travers, MD

Originally from the Orlando, Florida region, Dr. Tamra Travers studied medical anthropology with a minor in African studies at the University of Florida. While in college, she began her service career by becoming a live-in community member at the Gainesville Catholic Worker House. As a medical student, Dr. Travers sought opportunities to provide health care for patients living in poverty. She volunteered for several rotations, free clinics, and health fairs in low socioeconomic status and migrant worker communities. Additionally, she has pursued her global health interest through her role as AAFP’s medical student representative to Polaris, WONCA’s North American Young Physician movement. Her personal interests include writing and the many outdoor and cultural activities the city offers with her husband, family and friends.
