Vice President, Facilities
As vice president for facilities, Mr. Carter is responsible for all facilities maintenance and housekeeping functions, along with overseeing all capital improvement and construction projects for all Institute facilities. In his first year and a half at the Institute, Mr. Carter completed federally funded improvement projects at virtually every facility operated by the Institute. He is responsible for the capital portion of our $2.5 million federal stimulus grant; a $30 million renovation of the new Family Health Center of Harlem; and an $8 million renovation project at Walton Family Health Center.
Prior to working at the Institute for Family Health, Mr. Carter was the associate executive director for the Parodneck Foundation from 2007-2008, where he was responsible for field operations including construction management and oversight of approximately $40 million in multi-family rehabilitations. Mr. Carter also served for eight years as the director of operations for St. Christopher’s, Inc. He has also worked for his own consulting firm, Steven R Carter Consulting, providing project and construction management services on residential and mixed-use buildings in the Bronx and Manhattan.
Mr. Carter has a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University.
