Medhanit Tekle, MD
La Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina (The Latin American School of Medicine)
Originally born in Ethiopia, Dr. Medhanit Tekle moved with her family to Northern Virginia where she spent most of her childhood. After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University, she spent several years working in a psychiatric clinical research office before accepting a scholarship to attend medical school at the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina in Havana, Cuba. Impressed and motivated by the Cuban health model, Dr. Tekle is excited to be a part of a program that focuses on health access and social health disparities and hopes to be a resourceful advocate for her new and culturally rich Harlem community. In her free time, she enjoys exploring New York City’s beautiful parks, beaches and the endless activities the city offers.
