Community Research Committee
In 2005, Bronx Health REACH received a research grant from the National Institute of Minority Health and Disparities (formerly the National Center on Minority Health and Disparities) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Faith-Based Outreach Initiative in addressing health disparities. As a result, Bronx Health REACH formed a Community Research Committee made up of community leaders, pastors, physicians, and residents to guide and shape the research agenda. The Community Research Committee meets regularly with Bronx Health REACH staff and the coalition’s evaluators to select, vet, and discuss community-based interventions and research methodologies. The committee also plays a key role in interpreting and disseminating research on the Faith-Based Outreach Initiative.
